Navigating Kotoka International Airport's New Travel Fee: What You Need to Know

Travelers using the Kotoka International Airport in Accra will soon be required to pay a new fee to help cover the cost of maintenance. The new fee, expected to be up to $20, includes a $10 charge for each leg of a return trip. This measure aims to contribute to ongoing improvements in infrastructure and services at the airport, enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers. 

Additionally, Parliament has summoned Minister for Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, to appear before the House to provide further clarification regarding the implementation of this fee. This summons reflects the significance of the issue and underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in the decision-making process.  

Here's what you need to know about the new fee: 

Implementation Date: The fee is expected to come into effect starting from May 1, 2024. 

Applicability: The up to $20 fee applies to all departing passengers, encompassing a $10 charge for each leg of a return trip.  

Purpose: The fee will contribute to ongoing improvements in infrastructure and services at Kotoka International Airport, aiming to provide a better travel experience for all passengers. 

Parliamentary Inquiry: Minister for Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, has been summoned to provide further clarification to Parliament regarding the implementation of this fee.
